Our Story

Who We Are

SEANET is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing scientific research and promoting sustainable scientific solutions for environmental challenges. We conduct rigorous scientific environmental assessments, enhance public education, and empower communities with the science to adapt to climate change, monitor habitat degradation, and preserve our remaining biodiversity.

Established in memory of Dr. Sean R. Brennan, a visionary ecosystem ecologist and isotope geochemist, SEANET strives to conserve and manage natural resources through innovative research and education initiatives. By honoring his legacy, we continue to drive impactful change in the environmental science sector.

Our Initiatives

SEANET's diverse projects range from water resource science to fisheries ecology and climate adaptation. We focus on providing science-based solutions to preserve ecosystems and empower communities in the face of evolving environmental challenges.

Water Resource Science

Preserving Vital Ecosystems

SEANET’s water resource science projects aim to protect and sustain freshwater environments through innovative research and targeted conservation efforts. As freshwater resources face increasing pressure from water abstraction and climate-driven drying, this initiative focuses on enhancing our ability to track ecohydrologic function and variability under current and future environmental change.

Fisheries Ecology

Balancing Aquatic Ecosystems

SEANET’s fisheries ecology initiatives focus on understanding and preserving both marine and terrestrial biodiversity to ensure the long-term sustainability of ecological services. These efforts are grounded in evaluating the trade-offs between biosphere processes and functions and the demands of human development, with the goal of promoting balanced, science-informed stewardship of natural systems.

Climate Adaptation

Navigating Environmental Changes

With a focus on climate adaptation, our projects are designed to help both communities and ecosystems respond to the growing challenges of a changing climate. Adaptation is fundamental to how the biosphere—including human societies—responds to environmental change. This initiative seeks to push the boundaries of knowledge to develop tools, frameworks, and strategies that enhance our adaptive capacity. From local communities to global systems, the goal is to equip those on the frontlines of climate change with the information and innovations they need to build a resilient future.

Our Focus

Driving Environmental Progress

SEANET is committed to driving environmental progress through innovative research, education, and community engagement initiatives.
